Office Hour Rules

During office hours, everyone MUST have their prepared answers ready, including both behavioral and case mock interviews.

How to Prepare for a Case Mock:

If you do a case mock, you are required to write down your answer and share your screen instead of freestyling. Why? It takes our coaches five minutes to determine whether you can pass the interview by reviewing your prepared answers. Meanwhile, follow the step-by-step guide here:
5.4 ✅ How to Prepare for Google/Meta Case Interviews and Case Interviews in General

How to Prepare for a Behavioral Mock:

Please write down your answers (at least the key sentences), time yourself, and try to fit your response into two minutes (this is the ideal length during interviews) and no longer than three minutes. If you can't shorten it, our coaches will help.

HOWEVER, you must tell us upfront how long it took you to answer so that we know you can identify your challenges and are prepared.

Make sure to study Module 2 Behavioral Interview Framework before attending a mock session:
Module 2: Behavioral Interview Framework

Requirements Before or After Your Mock Interviews:

If you attend office hours to prepare for an upcoming interview, you are required to upload your real interview questions to the Alumni-Contributed Interview Questions Database. You can also view questions contributed by other alumni. This helps create a win-win situation for the whole community to grow together.
If you have any reason for not contributing, you must specify it to my team.

What Type of Questions You Should and Shouldn’t Ask During Office Hours

✅ What You SHOULD Ask:
  • Portfolio-related questions
  • Any questions related to Sunday Group Training
  • Job-hunting strategy questions whenever you are stuck
  • Networking script review or related questions
  • PM Mock interviews (both case and behavioral questions)
  • Have our coaches predict the type of interview questions. However, study all prep materials in Modules 2.1–2.12 ahead of time, as many answers are already covered there.
  • AI Product Management Questions: If you already have AI experience or are enrolled in the AI PM Bootcamp, you are welcome to ask AI PM questions. HOWEVER, do not ask questions like:

"What AI model should I use for my home renovation AI product?" → This will only be answered after our tech advisor evaluates your AI product.

đŸš« What You SHOULDN’T Ask:
  • Technical AI questions: If you're in the AI PM Bootcamp, direct technical AI questions to Nicolas and Austin’s AI PM Bootcamp Office Hours, not PMA office hours. AI coaches are only available to AI PM Bootcamp students, not general PMA students.
  • 1:1 Resume Review: This is covered by resume coaches during your 1:1 resume review. If you need a quick 30-second scan, we can provide it—but no more than 30 seconds.
  • Math questions
  • The SAME questions that you’ve already mocked with other coaches:

1. Our coaches are trained the same way to provide the best outcomes.

2. You are NOT allowed to have the same questions reviewed by multiple coaches just to get a different opinion.

  • Coming to office hours without improvement or independent work/mock sessions with classmates:

1. After receiving feedback from our coaches, you must take action.

2. If our coaches see that you are not improving or making only 1% progress despite receiving the same feedback repeatedly, they have the right to stop the mock interview and prioritize other students.

  • Asking our coaches to complete take-home assignments for you:

We can only review your answers, not do the homework for you.

  •  Asking coaches to spoon-feed you:

1. Example: A student once asked, “How do I answer ‘Why do you want to work for Capital One?’”

2. I taught her how to answer it.

3. The following week, she asked, “How do I answer ‘Why do you want to work for American Express?’”

4. In this case, I already taught how to approach one bank. You should investigate other banks using the strategies I taught you.

  • Exceeding practice limits:

1. No more than three behavioral mocks

2. No more than two case reviews

3. No more than one full case mock

4. We have daily office hours, so you will have time to cover all your questions. However, one person cannot occupy an entire office hour.

Which Questions to Ask Which Coaches?

Some coaches specialize in specific interview question types, so sign up for the right coach in your RSVP form.

  • @Dr. Nancy Li – Product Strategy and AI PM questions, final round interview questions for all companies, and any other questions if time allows.

1. If I have conducted multiple mock interviews with a student and they are making only marginal improvement, I may ask them to implement my feedback first and work with other coaches.

2. They may return to my office hours only after other coaches agree they have improved.

3. Why? I want to focus on coaching advanced questions that other coaches cannot address, instead of repeating what I already taught the same student last week.
